Better known as the sanctuary of Olón, in the province of Santa Elena. It is built on top of a rock. It has a design in the shape of a sailing boat with a deck and bow, where the image of the Virgin Mary is found inside a shell on a carved wooden altar, it is one of the most striking sanctuaries in the country, as it is part of the religious route of the traditional tour of seven churches located on the Ecuadorian coast.
It is a place to spend the day with family, friends, etc. They have a barbecue, sighting of howler monkeys, trails for hiking and bathing in the waterfall.
Meeting place and reference site in Montañita. It is very close to several of the most important surf schools.
The monument reflects an icon of Montañita and transmits the message of a people that has surpassed itself and has great importance at the national and international level. “Montañita has friendly, very welcoming people and in the future it will become an important city for tourism and culture.
DE DOS MANGAS
Much of the trail towards the waterfalls is surrounded by secondary forest thanks to the reforestation of native species carried out with the support of the residents.
Due to its characteristics, this forest serves as an ecological niche and habitat for a very varied fauna including Howler Monkeys. While walking the trail, tourists can see fields of toquilla straw, guadúa cane, vegetables and a variety of fruits from the Coast.
Less than 90 minutes from Montañita.
Los Frailes is a virgin beach located in the Machalilla National Park. It is a beach with calm waters, ideal to enjoy with the family and with children since we do not see the big waves that the Pacific usually offers.
The Park includes two beaches, the first is a beach where we are allowed to bathe and enjoy with family or friends. It is located in a wide bay, where we have as an environment the same park behind us with all its vegetation so particular. The second we are not allowed to enter the sea since it is a conservation area for turtles.
Between mid-July and mid-November, the Humpback Whales visit us. They are approaching the coast of Ecuador. Approximately 15 to 25 minutes by boat, it's a sight to see. We recommend that if possible, choose a sunny day as it is more enjoyable and it is more likely that they will jump.
DE LA PLATA
ISLAND "Mini Galàpagos"
Less than two hours by boat from Montañita is the Isla de la Plata, also known as "mini galapagos".
It is so called since it is possible to find some exotic animals that are also found in the Galapagos Islands, including the blue-footed booby.
The island can be covered in just 3 hours of walking.
You can also snorkel or dive in the area.
